Amazon is just hours away from Prime Day, a 24-hour event that launches discounted items every five minutes, and it just sent out a sneak peak of deals.

Prime Day is a shopping event—a kind of Black Friday in July, except that last year it rang up 18% more than the day after Thanksgiving. After just a single occurance, Prime Day is now the fourth biggest shopping day of the year,
Data from Checkout Tracking, a service from market researcher NPD Group that tracks sales at the receipt level, shows that Amazon won a full 89 percent of spend from Amazon buyers on Prime Day in 2015. Compare that with the 69 percent of spend that Amazon buyers dedicated to the online behemoth on Black Friday 2015.
Electronics will be in big supply this year, there will be nearly twice the number of TVs included this year based on customer complaints feedback.
Last year, Amazon captured the bulk of all electronics purchases with 88% of category spending that day going to Amazon, according to NPD.
Amazon’s own products including the Amazon Echo, Fire TV and Fire TV Stick are discounted so if you’ve been waiting to try out Alexa, the virtual voice assistant inside the Echo Bluetooth speakers, now is your chance.

And first-time buyers that order using Alexa, there’s an addition $10 off the first item.
Of course you’ll have to be an Amazon Prime member to partake, which is part of the genius of Prime Day, shoppers must pay the $99 annual fee to join Prime. Of course there are other benefits like free two-day shipping, access to the Kindle library, streaming media and more.
