Atlas, the two-legged humanoid robot built by Google’s Boston Dynamics arm, just took its first walk outside the lab.
Atlas, the two-legged robot built by Boston Dynamics, now owned by Google, just took a walk in the wild. Well, sort of.
As the video below shows, Boston Dynamics putAtlas through its paces in the lab where it had to negotiate rocky, uneven terrain, even bouncing it with big weights to make sure it can keep its balance. Then Atlas took a walk in the woods, still tethered for power, but you get the idea: it is able to walk over rough terrain without losing its balance.
The goal, according to Boston Dynamics founder Marc Raibert, is to “get Atlas out into the world.”
