LeBron James has come a long way in the public eye since his 2010 TV special announcing his move to South Beach. He won a second NBA title in June; his jersey is the NBA’s best seller; and he nabbed Sports Illustrated’s Sportsman of the Year honor for 2012 after winning a third MVP Award and leading the Miami Heat to an NBA title and the U.S. men’s Olympic team to the gold medal in London.
The success has clearly cemented James’ spot as the sport’s top earner off the court with endorsement income of $42 million a year from the likes of Coca-Cola KO -0.05%, Nike, Upper Deck, Samsung, Audemars Piguet and Dunkin Donuts. Kobe Bryantis the only other NBA player in the same zip code as James when it comes to off court income (see “Kobe, LeBron Lead NBA’s Highest-Paid Players.” James has used his earnings over the past year to fund his wedding, a new high school gym, and uniforms for his alma mater St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio
Here are a few more things James could do with his endorsement bounty.
